Samaki Commons Family Housing Project To Begin Construction in Summer 2008 Inter*Im's latest affordable housing project, Samaki Commons is a 40 unit family housing project to be constructed in the Othello neighborhood in Rainier Valley, and adjacent to the Lao Highland Community Center. This project will serve a range of families and households, with units ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, and will provide affordable family housing to help maintain the existing diversity for Rainier Valley residents, where housing costs continue to increase. This project has received support from a number of community groups in the neighborhood, as well as funding support from the City of Seattle, Rainier Valley Community Development Loan Fund, King County, the State Housing Trust Fund, the Gates Foundation and the Seattle Housing Authority. Low income housing tax credits are anticipated in 2008. Construction is projected to commence in July of this year and to be completed by the end of 2009. For more information on the project, contact Leslie Morishita, ICDA Housing Planner, at lmorishita@interimicda.org, (206) 624-1802, ext. 19.
